Presentation Skills
- Delivery of a pre-prepared presentation on a subject of the delegate’s choice, relevant to their professional role.
Note: The duration of each delegate presentation will depend on the overall course length and the number of participants. Eight participants is considered ideal.
- Comprehensive one-to-one and group feedback
Preparing a Presentation
- Key questions for the presenter to consider in advance:
- Why am I the right person to present this?
- Logistics: What, where, when, how, and how long?
- Understanding how these answers influence the structure of the presentation
- Structuring the content:
- Conducting thorough research to master the subject
- Organizing the content logically
- Creating and utilizing complementary visual aids
Preparing the Presenter
- Mastering the three fundamental communication tools:
- Verbal: Choosing precise words and avoiding slang or jargon
- Vocal: Managing tone and avoiding distracting verbal tics or excessive pauses
- Visual: Managing appearance, including dress, mannerisms, and overall presence
- Rehearsing the presentation and obtaining honest feedback from a trusted source
- Techniques for coping with nerves
Preparing the Environment
- Understanding room layouts and how they convey underlying messages to attendees
- Utilizing the physical space to enhance the presentation experience
Presentation Skills – Revisited
- Delivery of a second presentation (after a suitable preparation period).
Note: This can be a revised version of the same presentation from Module 1, incorporating detailed feedback.
