Module 2 – Exploring the 11 Rules (60 min theory + 30 min practice)

  • EXW, FCA, CPT, CIP, DAP, DPU, DDP (suitable for any mode).
  • FAS, FOB, CFR, CIF (for sea and inland waterway transport).
  • Practical Activity: Align each rule with a realistic shipping scenario.

Module 3 – Obligations, Risk & Cost Distribution (30 min theory + 30 min practice)

  • Points where risk and responsibility shift.
  • Identification of parties responsible for transport, insurance, and customs clearance.
  • Practical Activity: Utilize a transport chain diagram to map out cost and risk distribution.

Module 4 – Selecting the Appropriate Incoterm (30 min theory + 30 min practice)

  • Key considerations: transport mode, cost control, risk appetite, and industry standards.
  • Case Study: Groups select the optimal Incoterm for specific shipments and justify their choices.

Module 5 – Preventing Errors & Managing Risks (20 min theory + 40 min practice)

  • Frequent mistakes (e.g., using FOB for containerized cargo).
  • The critical need to specify precise locations.
  • Document Review Activity: Detect and rectify Incoterm inaccuracies in sample contracts and shipping documents.

Module 6 – Negotiation Simulation (45 min practice)

  • Buyer and seller teams negotiate terms for a trade agreement.
  • Emphasis on cost, control, and risk allocation.
